Default Megatron Movie design??? Alternator? Or just a fan work?

source: http://www.tformers.com/article.php?sid=6030&mode=flat

I personally don't think it's movie concept art. I'll leave you to make up your own mind.

Still, although I hate the tan colour, its actually pretty Megatron looking, unlike that APALLING 'Classics' toy.

Well, if it's fact, and it's a design for a 40cm tall toy, then that's bigger than MP Prime/Convoy, and perhaps MP05. But til we know more, I'll hold back on the excitement-drive... cool tho!

it LOOKS fan-made... best description is a hyrbid between G1 & G2. mind you, it's entirely possible it's masterpiece, it just doesn't strike me as looking like it's been done by pro-designers.

still, it'd make a nice masterpiece megatron. which if it is..................... oooooooooooooh, i could convert my CUSTOM megatron into shockwave!

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Legs are weedy.
Maybe it's something to do with a model kit in some way.

It's got to be fan-made. Didn't Bay say something along the lines that the robot designs aren't as "blocky" as the cartoon and are more functional looking? This looks like a cartoon more than anything.

Wasn't last word that Megatron (per this upcoming movie incarnation) was too high & mighty to bother himself with a disguise?

That is definitely not movie megatron. It just doesn't fit the description of the style descriptions we've read for the movie 'bots. Though if it does turn out to be for the movie, then that should settle some worries.

We did hear months ago that Alternators would be expanded to include a higher price point with larger vehicles. This could be the first we've seen from that line. If so, that's an amazing design.

MP-05 would make sense too, as would a fan drawing.

Whatever it is, if that actually is for a real toy...it's hawter than Cov's hand. Well...almost.

Its not perfick, I dont like the uglified face (always found Megs handsome, dunno why), and the legs are a bit funky, but BOY, thats more Classic G1 Megs looking than G1 Classics Megs is, without needing to resort to a gun alt-mode.

Diggit like a shovel!

it's certainly an attractive design. and i disagree, i think the legs look ok.

one thing that i don't get though, what has happend to the rest of the catapilla tracks? you only have half on the legs and non anywhere else?

have they been folded inside the legs?

I know what you mean about the face (and Megatron's dashing looks). I'm thinking it's only a drawing and if there is a toy being made from this it will turn out somewhat different.

I'm peachy keen with this design. Unfortunately, I feel I can't hope for anything regarding it because I really don't want to be let down.

*slaps Bladie*

I've now seen a design for Classics Grimlock, and its in the same style as this Megatron.

I think this is probably a ditched design for Classics Megatron, ironically, far superior looking to the dross they've served us up with.

Incidentally, Grimlocks design shows his dino head splitting n half to become his feet. Can't they even get the bloody Classics line right? *sigh*

Thumbs down

Its got the newly accepted stance.

Which is nice.

But man do I hate those skinny legs, and having the Dino head as feet looks cack.

I dearly want a Classics Grimlock, but they're gonna screw him over like they have Megs if this is the design they're going with.

Its a design for him, we don't know yet if its THE design they're going with.

I sincerely hope not.

Although seeing as they apparantly went with mondo-ugly Megs over the better looking tank one I wont be getting my hopes up.

I agree entirely.

Funny how they went so far as to accept the more updated dino stance of the creature, but then make the head wide, the legs skinny as hell, and the tail waaaay too stubby. Looks more like a Doomlock redesign than a Grimlock toy.

WST Grimlock has a more sensible head position in 'bot mode.

http://www.tfw2005.com/justitoys-gri...source-com.htm

I always wished my original G1 Grimmers' head would have slid forward a bit.

I likey the Grimlock! It looks like him to me.

Although I hope the Megs design is in actuality an Alternators design and not an abandoned classics one.

Ok, so my transformation design is different apart from the arms, but I had the same colour scheme in mind.

If it's genuine it would be a very nice Alternator Megatron IMO.
Liking the Grimlock redesign as well.

40 cm equals to about 30' in 1:1 scale, which is as tall as I estimated my design.
Would've made for a nice G1 friendly movie Megatron...

I'd buy one!

(but only to spray it silver, file down that horrendous bulge on his chin and generally make him look two million times better)

Still, an Alternators Megatron - about time, too! This will make up for the disgraceful 'Classics' megs.

Does anyone else find it odd that a tank will be in a line attributed strictly to cars & trucks?

It is bad isn't it? I kept looking at it hoping to find some kind of lurve in there, but there's nothing. The horrendous "I've got half my alt mode on my back!" syndrome seems to have leaked a bit into the design of his nurfy gun mode.

*Sigh*

Anyone got a spare $900 bucks so I can get the most well done robotic mode of Megatron ever created by chance?

LOL

Same here! I do exactly that. I've looked at him over and over trying to convince myself he's worth buying. But he aint.

I want to like it, I really really do. Megs is my fave character, as you know.

But it's grotesque.

And it doesn't even look much like him. (in fact, barring the head mould and the fact he turns into a gun its nothing like him at all)

Ah well!

You could probably rebuild his chest area a bit too, to make it more G1-like.

Hey, Whatever form it's destined to take, (masterpiece, Expanded Alt, movie, whatever) That is FRIGGEN SWEEET!

For the record, though, I hope that's the movie Megs. That would be awesome. Period.

"Too high and mighty to take a disguise"? Sounds like a cop-out on the part of the movie designer crew, and I will commit sepoku be that the case. After I burn them in effigy.

Default Sad but not true

Hey folks

Sorry to burst bubbles but (pop) this is definitely not Megs for the movie. I do know someone (yah we all know someone) but trust me i do and he was under contract for the TF movie along with several other companies to come up with concept art only. The main thing they were instructed were to make sure the art could compare with physics of the transformation. Hence TOYS!!!! My buddy is hardcore G1 and alot of his designs were quashed because they were to much like the originals. His main focus was prime, and yes many of the concepts were both semi cab over (flat) and full nose! Fire truck, Mac, Freightliner. Most he still has no idea which or if any were actually used. His company would not allow him to leave building with his laptop or send out email due to the secrecy required from ILM.

Truth is I don't have any of it but I have seen some when I visited him. Most I was happy with but Megatron does not look at all like the concept shown at the top of the thread!!

I do think though he looks awesome, very streamlined with lots of mechanical looking parts not just block like the cartoon. Most importantly though he does have a freaking huge mother ****ing arm cannon!!!! He unfortunately from what I know has a part in the movie. Mostly he will be a voice a shadow a flash not til near the end!

I hate though that not all TF are going to be what they were meant to be!!!

Anyways WTF is a HoVer DonKey?? Is it a person? Or some demented beastwars creation gone horribly wrong.

I'm beginning to think the Megatron MIGHT be a Supereme or Leader class Classics figure. While it's been said by Hasbro that Classics is supposed to be a "filler" line, they were also mentioning at the time that the line might not happen at all, hence the extreme secrecy shrouding it until now. The fact that Grimlock is being shown to obviously be drawn by the same guy would indicate to me that the artist (IF he actually DOES work for Hasbro) was working exclusively on the Classics line, ergo, the two pictures are from the same line.

Honestly, here's to hoping it's a NEW larger sized Classics Megs.

That does answer a bunch of nagging questions....

Just out of shear curiosity, are there any consept sketches from the movie floating around anywhere? I remember seeing a trailer for it that was about 7 minutes long, and had flashes of consept art dispersed throughout... are those anywhere? Anyone know what I'm talking about?
