So I've been imaginging it that when a critic posted a review that concluded there was nothing special about this film, every raver who saw it immediatly began proclaiming how reviewers don't know anything and are all just "arsty farsty" plot obsessed people? Or Asquain's little dig at poisoncrow? Cause I know I've got a fertile imagination, but I did't think I qulaified as delusional yet

I haven't read any reviews that said there was nothing special about the film. I've read ones saying the action and special effects are great, but the downtime between explosions was tedious, which nobody can really argue, since we all expected it, and most of us haven't seen it yet, and I've read reviews saying that the movie fails because Optimus is a long nosed truck and Megatron isn't a walther p-38, which are from a clear "I hated this movie and everything about it before I even saw it" mentality

Go to rotten tomatoes there are few reviews there that are calling the movie special or something along that lines. And yeah there are a few that its not special

Way too much robot action?? I think there needs to be MORE. As much as there was robot action in this film which I liked I hope we get tons more in the sequel considering that there will be more autobots and decepticons. I can't get enough I need more lol

In unrelated news I wonder what Ebert would give the first 6 chapters of my G1 Transformers fanfiction.

I agree that the Matrix (at least the first movie) was an intelligent modern film compared to Transformers, it still sold itself on its special effects and a high-concept story like TF. But You can't excuse the fact you just said you think people who disagree with your personal opinion are stupid.

Default So much for the Transformers/Godzilla compariosn

And out the window go the moronic comparisons between Transformers and Godzilla.

Quote:
It’s good. And that’s not saying “there are good parts in it,” either. I think as a movie, it knows exactly what it’s doing, it does it well, and it manages to avoid the mistakes that a lot of similar recent movies have made. This is not INDEPENDENCE DAY. This is not GODZILLA. I think this movie can only be a good thing for the world of TRANSFORMERS. I think this movie makes it a much larger cultural icon than it’s ever been before. This is not a toy commercial... and don’t get me wrong... it’s not a film, either. It’s a movie. A really, really fun movie.

I definitely thought of our friend Lady D when I read that. Of course someone will come here and say this is one critic blah blah blah.

I already have my tickets for tomorrow night at 10:20, and I'll probably see it at least one more time before I come back to work next week.

No more likely something along the lines of michaelbay.com is Bay's buddy so we can't belive anything he posts because he's determined that his buddy is the best director to ever walk the Earth. Or something like that.

Well, let's see...

GINO:
Great FX, bad story, decent actors, ripping of a very big Japanese cultural icon which by most purists consider it a slap in the face.

TINO:
Great FX, pathetic story, decent actors(Jon Voight being a major exception), ripping a Japanese and American culture which many purists consider a slap in the face.

Not a far step there is it. Most certainly easier to compare to than say The Godfather.

BTW, I won tickets to see this movie at midnight. Local radio station wanted to see who was the biggest fan. After I showed them my emblem, they just handed me the tickets. If I can sit through this load without being tossed out of the theater, I will get a review of this. MAYBE this movie will be worth watching, but I doubt it will as a Decepticon fan, be worth paying for.

Cautiously optimistic here. The "cautious" part comes from Moriarty liking X-3, as well.

The review comes from someone that hates Bay's movie.

Arrogant, yet so satisfyingly true. I really cannot tolerate people that settle for mediocrity. The bottom line is that this movie has fallen way short of what it should have been.

Expect to see me popping up in a lot more threads regarding movie two. I'm going to try my best to make it a hell of a lot better than movie one.

Actually I did read it and the part that says

Quote:
I also think that the one group of people who will be least satisfied will be the hardcore ‘80s fanboys. And I’m not bagging them for the way they’ll feel, either.
But then things like that would contradict a film for everyone and everyone will love the movie.

In the next Bay movie we'll get another 80 mph fully orchestrated money shot, only this time it'll have nothing to do with robots.

Not moronic, but totally make sense. Not only was Godzilla...not Godzilla, it was a bad movie. From the looks of Transformers, it's a good movie on it's own, and they kept optimus prime. Take out prime, and it could be any movie you want it to be.

I can safely add this film amongst the ranks of Terminator, Predator, and Aliens and feel proud of it. The sequel better bring the mail like X-Men United did. Oh and Shockwave.

Is this the same CNN that when the mission to Somalia was going on years ago they decided to film our ultra super secret Navy SEALS landing on the beaches of Africa? Then try to interview them as they came ashore...

Way to go guys... why not just tell our enemies... hey our guys are RIGHT HERE!!!

I have no love for CNN.

CNN is crap. Worthless news stories nowadays. Didn't anyone there tell them that their news programs on tv aren't supposed to look like the a website?

oh man you got video of that? I don't like the idea of filming the special forces, or the military in general while at war for that matter, but if there's videos bring em on!

I do not have any personally, but I am sure it is in CNN's archives somewhere or on the net. they had it going on LIVE... I forget who the reporter was at the time but there they were shining lights on our boys as they came ashore. How they even KNEW they were landing there is beyond me. I remember sitting up through it thinking wtf... if I was a SEAL I would have capped his arse.

And this is the same CNN that insisted on getting footage on the debacle that occured during Blackhawk down. Same campaign.

they should've gotten pulled off the air for that. They're so far on the left. They should be renamed Communist News Network.
