Ultra Seaspray is a definite "want", as are the G1 Legends.

The WfC figures are probably a part of the Generations line and will make for good Classics-Cybertronian modes.

The Power Core figures sound cool, but I want to see more pictures before I fully pull the trigger on that subline. As neat as a new Bruticus would be, I have little interest in one if it's "movie-styled", as there are some indications he might be.

looks like the five pack is EXACTLY what I originally said the range would be. Interchangeable figures that can be combined in any combination to form a super robot. However, in the blurb is claims the limbs are "legends" sized, I hope that is a mistake, because if it isn't it means that the five pack is a scout class with 4 minicons to form the super robot. I was hoping for 5 scout class figures which combine at least. if not 4 scout and 1 delux.

edit, is it significant that the power core figures are listed with movie figures in the catalogue?

I think it's a safe bet this is a sub-line of the movie figures, expanding on the tech used to combine devastator, the twins and the Chromia triplets. It's the "legends" scale reference that worries me most, ok it will work better (and cheaper) to sell as a giftpacked set if they are legends or minicons, but I'd still have liked to have seen them as scout class figures, would have made the combined form more impressive.

plus it would have stood alongside that Superion figure better, I know it's only a repaint of the Energon Superion Maximus, but with the new paint job and different colour plastic on the energon weapons, it does actually fit in with the movie line quite well. But scale wise it will dwalf these new combiners.

I wasn't a fan of the original figure, I'm curious as to what a voyager class version will be like. I note that one source (TFW2005 I think) incorrectly listed the figure as an "Ultra" class. Could you imagine them going to the trouble of making an obscure character like Sea spray that big?

Not feeling that Bruticus. Might buy the two packs, but I'm still going to be very choosy in what I buy this year. In the end, I'll have to see better pics come Toy Fair to finally make up my mind. I'm much more anxious to extend my Classics collection and Seaspray and the new G1 Legends are currently on my shortlist, with WfC figures close behind as Cybertronian mode Classics.

Ahhh the penny finally drops, I was thinking that the ultra class was the supreme/leader class scale, ultra is the next step down (same size as classics onslaught I believe). That does actually sound a little too big from those leaked photos, but the source I referenced above (I think it's in my post about the power core combiners) clearly states "Voyager" where as the original link stated "ultra". Note that the "Voyager" reference came from a quote from the woman on the Hasbro stand, where as the other source appears to be a more ambigious leak/pre-release catalogue. Either could be a mistake.

That said the pictures do show a VERY chunky figure which though not standing as tall as other Ultra figures would use about the same amount of plastic (remember ROTF jetfire is an ultra figure but stands as tall as leader optimus prime).

Like we said with some of the taller deluxes for the animated line, the size ranges seem to relate more to the amount of plastic, number of accessories, complexity of the transformation as much as the actual total size. A better guideline seems to be the size of the alt mode rather than the figure itself (take animated Lockdown for example, he is listed as a delux but stands taller than some voyager figures.)

At any rate, I'm still more excited about this year's offering in Transformers than last year's (Universe odds and ends notwithstanding). And Bruticus may not end up being the bust I'm thinking he may end up being...but I'll reserve my judgement for better pics.

I'm getting the impression some of this information is slightly incorrect on the sizes at least. Like I said above, the picture of bruticus doesn't really confirm whether the individual robots are legends or larger. Here's hoping they are scouts at the very least, that would give it a size comparable to the g1 gestalt figures.

as for seaspray, I think I mentioned already I wasn't a fan of the miniautobot version first time around so whatever size he is I'm not interested in the new incarnation. But from the pictures he is certainly going to be a shelf filler and no mistake.

We'll have to wait and see how work goes as to whether I break my no new TF rule this year. I'd love to get a new gestalt to match up with my g1 bruticus.

I actually quite like the frogman feel of the character, nice touch. I would have preferred him to be smaller and in similar colours to the original for authenticity, but for anyone new to the character I don't think that is actually a bad figure at all.

The idea he can carry legend and scout vehicles on the back is very clever, not many figures can do that, and at least he looks like he's in the correct scale to do it too.

One thing that is obvious is that he is DEFINITELY not a supreme class (as i first assumed in my misconception of the size classes) not a delux, but I would like to see some size comparison shots with other Ultras to see how he shapes up. I'm guessing he's quite small in robot form compared to most, but his vehicle form is nice and chunky.

I'm getting a bit of a Gobot vibe though.

Well, the Minibots had a little Gobot-ish vibe to them too, so i think that's intentional. And really, the only thing really out of place in the color apps is the blue head...should've been gold, IMO, to match his nacelles like the original toy. Otherwise, it's a fairly decent update of Seaspray, IMO. Yeah, he violates the "minibot" principle, but like I said, so does Universe Powerglide and Botcon Huffer. I just think of them as "selected upgrades".

interesting, this does partly tie in with the information we had that the discovery chanel were developing a show, so it's the Hasbro/discovery chanel? mmm interesting.

Transformers: Prime, well that narrows down which of the many toy ranges we've seen recently it may tie into (if any). If I had to guess I'd say this will tie into the new game "war for Cybertron" and be "the history of Prime" from his first days as leader of the autobots on Cybertron to his final battle on Earth, retold in a modern setting. Otherwise I suspect they have just picked a punchy title related to the Transformers mythos, as they did with Cybertron and Energon, and has little directly to do with plot.

One thing I'd not put money on is that this is a Movieverse tie in show, or a continuation of Animated (sadly).

Then again it could be a complete fabrication and totally untrue.

In a Hasbro Q&A, Hasbro did mention that they'd be looking at the original 13 Primes, so I'm beginning to think that this may have something to do with that. Prime also means "First", so this may actually be considered a Transformers origin story for which future non-movie lines will exist within. Good news, at any rate.

OK, I have been looking at the pictures very closely and I've drawn a few conclusions, some of these may be false, we'll know better when these things hit the shelves.

1. all the larger figures (including the four legends sized "team members") feature minicon attachment posts, so all of them can interact with the minicons featured on the two pack sets.
2. the linkage ports (the boxy red and blur things shown on the shoulders of the two pack scouts) are also present on the team leaders and appear to be how they link to the four smaller bots. This suggests quite strongly that the two pack sets can replace the team leaders of the combined teams.
3. these same linkage ports appear to be the same shape and size as a standard fist drill hole and a minicon port. Therefore (and this is a bit of a stretch) I believe that any figure with one of the minicon posts could also attach as an arm or leg, making it possible for you to assemble a team using the scout figures. However the gestalts pictured appear to link using concealed ports at the back of each of the smaller figures, unless a similar port also exists on the scouts I strongly suspect that the scouts cannot function as arms and legs, but I hope they can.
4. though they are described as having 3 modes the minicons actually function as target masters, the third mode is an un-picutured "shield" mode which has them linked to the chest port of the scout figures. Note since the "team" figures feature their minicon posts on other parts of their body (and not on their chests) this is not a feature of those figures.

The 5 pack power core combiners do not appear to have individual robot modes. So depressingly those 4 extra vehicles could just be drones.

I'm going by the fact that 1. non of the limbs are shown in robot form and 2. there seems to be a distinct lack of joints.

two possibilities exist, 1. the rumours are true and either the display versions are incomplete dummies standing in for the real thing. or 2. the rumours are just wishful thinking.

I'm still hoping that the rumours prove false, but I'm not seeing any individual robot modes for the legends vehicles in any of the toy fare pics, and since the reverse of the packaging hasn't been published yet (which shows how the power core combination thing works) we will just have to cross our fingers.

Here's some clarification from the Allspark:

Powercore combiner limbs are attached as vehicles and automatically convert into a limb when attached
Limbs DO NOT have robot modes or names
Packaging lists them as drones
Powerlinx ports aren't in scale to armada ports.
Arms are always arms. Legs are always legs.
WfC BB is the same height as WfC Prime
Conversion levels go up to 5 instead of 4 now. WfC figures are 4s.

I was really looking forward to what would be offered post-movie, but it's looking alot like more of the same movie toys mixed with toys I'm simply not digging. The Classics/WfC figures are must-buys (probably skip over Thrust, though). That leaves me with:
