told you. he wants to do "a human story", has done from day one (his words look it up). Therefore:

Teen Angst
Family Interaction
Bonding
Lurve Story
Class Bullies
Class Hottie
Geek Friends...

etc

In other words Breakfast club with robots.

The man is really out of touch with what a story about invading alien robots is actually about.

I've said all I'm going to say about this in about 30 other threads - he's an arse and never should have been hired for this franchise - end of.

There's something to be said about exploring Sam and BB's relationship...but I kinda feel like that ship has sailed unless they outright kill BB or Sam (hopefully the latter in that we really haven't seen much "true" emotion out of the bots, period). Maybe they can kill Mikela and Sam can ponder if coaxing her into BB in the first movie and involving the woman he loved in an intergalactic war was really the right thing to do.

kill sam, give his parents something to do besides being comic relief. in fact kill the whole damn family and have the bots grieving, not interested in seeing more screen time for them or their damn dog.

Crap, action scenes were the only good parts of those movies...

1. Spacebridge technology is more complicated in Movie-verse than it is in G1 or other series'. They have to make a huge device, or have it built into them (like Jetfire had)
2. I doubt a small sliver can revive an entire planet

I disagree. I believe people connect to BB so well due to him not talking(he is my sister's and my neice's favorite charactor...and they love him due to his 'acted' emotions). A word here and there may be nice for the non'bee fans...but I think the no voice thing really does work for him.

Exactly. As a mechanism for the introductory "reveal" it worked well. Having him speak at the end of the first movie, then two years later not utter a single word not only brings in a minor continuity error but also makes Ratchet look bad.

Seriously though, one of the things I was most looking forward to was a more evolved relationship between Sam and Bumblebee, similar to the "buddy" relationship that Spike and BB had in the original series. Part of what I expected was more dialogue between the two and that relationship delivering some of the Transformer character development that was supposedly going to be more of a focus in the sequel.

They could have done without the twins and given Bumblebee some character-building dialogue that took him beyond the level of "pet".

If Bay was serious about focusing more on the characters, continuing to rob Bumblebee of his voice is not just missing an opportunity to develop a primary character, but also neglecting a major part of Transformers "lore".

isn't kinda, too late for this? I mean I guess waiting 20 years for a decent transformers movie, whats another six right? but seriously. Are we expected to just forget the first two in their ridiculousness?

NOW Bay wants them to hide? NOW he wants them to act like actual transformers?

I dunno. Theres so many magical/powerfull elements about transformers that were totally brushed off in the first two that addressing them now would no make sense.

Things like giving Sam a type of personality at one point and a change of heart.. Or.. Maybe the Autobots could've struggled to prove they were sentient to humans. Maybe at one point they were just robots, and we learn they've become sentient through choices they have made in the absence of a master, making the Decepticons need to destroy and enslave have some actual meaning.

So many metaphors and ideologies that could've been explored to make any of these movies powerful.,but none of them were. So its kinda too late.

But otherwise, you're right to a degree. The "emotional" angle's ship has kinda sailed. It could still work, but you're going to need to jettison much of the human cast (leave Sam, but dump the parents and Mikela out of the next film). Instead, isolate Sam with some Autobots and REALLY have him deal with his situation.

sadly WT that isn't going to happen. The micheala part possibly (if Fox doesn't stop pissing people off) but Sam's "humanity" is tied to him being "a good son", the parents will stay because Bay seems blind to how ****ing annoying they actually are.

Personally I'd take Sam out of the equation entirely I've never empathised with him, and find him only marginally less annoying than his parents.

The parents were fine in the first movie, I enjoyed their scenes. In the second one, they were overplayed and exaggerated to a point of degrading their original appeal.
