Just after curiosity, how much of the series did you watch?

I didn't give it a real chance until after Beast Machines was already finished and ended up enjoying it way more than I thought I would. I'd say as far as quality storytelling and character development, both Beast series are at the top of my list.

G1 is also a fave because I've known it from the start and those characters will always be something special to me.

Actually both Beast Wars and Beast Machines were animated by the same company. They just had different show runners, and Mainframe used a different style of CGI in Beast Machines than in Beast Wars.

Maybe "completely different company" was a bad choice of words on my part. The story writers were different, so I don't consider it a true sequel, and yes, the CGI was good and all, but it was a lame plot. It wasn't nearly the same caliber as BW.

My favourite TF series of all time is........

Beast Machines!

First of all let me say that Beast Machines, like Beast Wars, is official G1 canon. None of them are what-ifs or alternate continuities.

So why do I like BM?

- Its set on CYBERTRON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wooooooooooooh! Finally no more Earth!
- Its the end of G1. The saga is complete. Cybertron's destiny has been fulfilled. What started with the Ark launching from Cybertron has ended with Optimus Primal reformatting Cybertron.
- It wraps up lots of plot threads started in G1. Notice, in the Rebirth episodes, Vector Sigma reveals that the only way to win/advance is by merging with organic life. And this happens, partly, with the Headmasters and Targetmasters. Beast Machines sees the completion of that prophecy, the complete merge of machine and organic life.
- I love G1. Beast Machines has lots of G1 bits, from Iacon to the Plasma Energy Chamber, not to mention The Key To Vector Sigma.
- Its a damn good sci-fi series. No more present day Earth.
- The transformations and the whole concept bring the Transformer legacy full circle, back to when TFs had to learn how to transform.
- It has great atmosphere, and an air of mystery and desperation. In Beast Wars they still had time to goof around. Not anymore. A handful of Maximals vs an entire planetful of Vehicons.

The orginal G1 Transformers will definitely be one of my best. Then followed closely by the japanese continuation in the 3 series. I preferred Beast Machines to Beast Wars. For the latest, I would say Cybertron and Armada.

Favourite among all: G1 Transformers why? It's because it's where everything started and made me a Transformers fan for 22 years.

But then Cybertron and Headmaster are also my favourite because there is Primus and Fortress Maximus.

G1 for Hotrod/Rodamus, the best leader of them all. But Beast Wars was the best made. it looked better and the story was far better. Amarda sucked, they should have stayed with the mindless gun fire and away for the tree huggin greenpeace way they made it, the only good thing to come out of Amarda was the minicon idea, that was good

For me it's like for so many others, the G1 seasons.

I live in Sweden and here there wasn't anything after it ended. I never saw any continuation and had no way to follow the evolution of the Transformers. I have a three hour long videotape with G1 Transformers episodes that my mother made for me when I was seven and I kept watching constantly just until a couple of years ago, when I first heard of Beast Wars. I think the last time I watched the tape was three or four years ago. I'm 24 now. Anyway with the help of the Internet I discovered Beast Wars. What the hell has happened to the Transformers? This is just me, I don't like Beast Wars, in fact I hate everything since G1. But I do find War Within quite interesting and I would like to see a show made out of it.

Beast Wars is G1. Beast Machines is G1. Its set a few hundred years (300) I think, after the original G1 cartoon ended.

Oh my bad. If I change "G1" into "the original series", will that make it less confusing?

Me too. Go Vector Prime!

Man, I would love to see Cybertron on the big screen. They could put some real depth into the Omega Lock and the Cyper Planet Keys, and to see Optimus in Savage Claw mode flying toward you would be AWESOME!!!

Except that, unlike trying to 'catch em all', the TFs were trying to get rid of Kremzeek.

My grownup tastes would rather sit through a Beast Wars or Beast Machines episode marathon, though G1 comes in solidly 3rd place w/ me for being the sentimental fave and what started it all.

The new anime styled shows that followed the beast eras are visually interesting, but story and character-wise I don't care for them, nor the toys. The comics, the G1 re-releases and Alternators keep my interest in Transformers alive, but I'm sure I'll pick up the Classics as well.

I find it funny that no-one at all likes Armada.

But G1 it is for me, simply because that's what my childhood consisted of. It's like growing up in the 70s with the original Star Wars and then seeing the new prequels.

Fav series is BW, followed by G1 and Victory.

I do like ARMADA.. In fact I like it A LOT.
I just don't consider it my "favourite".

As for the poll question, it honestly depends on my mood.
If I want a fun nostalgia trip I'll chuck a few G1 episodes on. Enjoyable in spite of all the flaws.

If I want a more literate character piece it'll be BEAST WARS of course.

Other times a few RID or ARMADA episodes will fit the bill, again because they're more 'lightweight'. To pick one series as a "favourite" seems to do the others down (which I don't want to do), but at a push I'd say G1, even though I don't consider it the best (by a long shot).

I've reached the sort of age where nostalgia is playing a big part in my life - Virtually every DVD I buy is an old black & white series or a cartoon I watched in the 1980's, so for that reason alone G1 makes it past the post in the same way GI JOE or MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE might.

I prefer TF Cybertron. Why? I always liked the G1, if I had not liked, I never would have continued to look the series TF. What I appreciate actually this is the evolution that have undergoes the TFs since the beginning. They began as simple machines that could transform themselves and that did nothing but make war (G1) and changed, we gave to them feelings and a design that make them a lot more human , I like a lot that. They are not just the machines and be able to give them a lot of emotions.. I like. When I see for the first time TF I was 8 years old and I cannot deny this that I liked because I always like, but my preference goes to TF Cybertron. The G1 was a "prelude".

But I cannot talk about the Beast Wars, I was incapable to look at more than 5 minutes... the animation design is horrible! (sorry..)

The only one negative point that I see to TF Cybertron this is the reclyclate pictures... change the background and restart the same scene a countless number of times. This is wearying.

I am someone that is very sensitive to the feelings that we have, and for me, if the TF can show feelings, humor and charism, that make the series more attractive.

I do not say that in the others they have not any charism.. but less than the Cybertron

That's my opinion (:

I actually think the look is one of the best things. I mean, there's so much expression in one of the first CGI show, think it looks better then most CGI shows today.

I like Galaxy Force, but the story can be fairly weak at times.

It was made in 1997 (if I am not mistaken). Have you seen any other CG from that time? It kinda all sucked. However, I liked the designs of the characters and how they transformed. I liked Meg's transformation the best.

Ah? I find the history interesting, by the presentation of the characters and their history and planets But it is true that they surely could have found a more interesting means than this search of shipsquare and cyberkey to create an history

you're right, I never saw animations of the 90S' like that.
Wanted to try, for me it was an error, competences of the 90s' did not be again sufficient to create something really beautiful

I think BW was the first fully CGI series after REBOOT, and for that reason alone deserves some credit for how good it was, visually.
By the time the Transmetals turned up I thought the show was gorgeous to look at.

Same here. I still love the look. Remember the Cyber-Raptors. Very nice.

I saw Armada and BW only recently, and I gotta admit I loved them both. BW is one of the best cartoons I've ever seen and Armada really picks up after the first ten or so episodes. I actually gave up watching it after episode 4 the first time around, but it turned out to be well worth the second chance.

Besides, those two shows feature two of my favourite characters ever-- Dinobot and Starscream.

Personally, I found the animation in BW far better than anything G1 ever saw. I can't quite say the same for the writing, but on the whole, it, too, was much better than what G1 got. G1 had a few episodes with excellent writing, but for the most part they were fairly mediocre, though still fun, stories. The fact that BW did follow/precede G1 in the same continuity was a nice touch, and added to its backstory nicely.

Where BW really won me over, though, was the characterization. With only a handful of regular characters on the show, the writers were able to develop them to a much greater degree than any of the G1 characters ever got. It was nice to see an Optimus with a personality, for a change, and a Megatron who was actually able to carry out a plan effectively. I liked seeing that the Maximals weren't all perfect good guys, but flawed characters who didn't always agree with each other. In G1, too often you could substitute any one character for any other of the same side, and the Autobots always followed without question, or semblance of individual personality.

Just to show that there are some who grew up with G1 who do look at it objectively. G1 was fun, and I still enjoy it, but BW managed to surpass it in every way I can think of. I haven't seen a series since that has surpassed BW as BW surpassed G1. I look forward eagerly to the day when such a TF series comes along, though.
*worships the ground u walk on* why? because you summarize the same feeling i have for BW..althought i didnt like BM much then again it may be because i may have miss a few episodes. I think BW was a revolutionary cartoon for its time..the late 90s and it was CGI cartoon that was beautifully done..also the writers were some that came from the 90s Batman Series and were writers from He-man from Filmation(just a bit of history since i own both season sets of He-man). i didnt mind Megatron say yes'ss all the time..i think it added some depth to the character.

also the reason i would vote BW hands down as my all time favorite even thought i was born in '78 and in a way i grew up with G1 ..was that unlike G1 u didnt have characters bouncing around and some character appearing out of nowhere and the next blinking out of existent..in BW the maximum u had where 6 or 7 characters at a time and that gave the writers time to flesh out the character n give life to them as oppose to G1 character where they didnt have much time to develop because of-possible Hasbro-wanting new characters left and right for their toy line and not giving that character to have a life of their own..like Fireflight ( i think) i know it was a season 1 episode.."Fire from the sky" if i remember correctly..the decepticons where in the artic drilling for energon and they come across an transformers and starscream recognize him as a fellow scientist before the great war and how fireflight(?) crashlanded on a prehistoric earth n such then he loses his memory from becoming a decepticon to an autobot and then sacrificing himself again to crashland on the ice u have him thaw out again in another episode...dont know which..

but thats what im talking bout what the MAJOR difference between G1 and BW was..n to an extend BM..althought as a matter of fact BW didnt have humans other than those prehistoric humans but that was to establish that it was actually Earth but accidently gone back into earth past and i think thats when ....um..the name escape me at the moment-actually discover the Ark and subsequently also discover the nemesis..which i think made the show all the better because it actually tie to the G1 history..as for RID..that was a show far apart from G1 history that it was an alternative timeline in self and was funny @ times..Armada at first i couldnt get past the first few episodes that i caught at the time but i have yet to watch the whole season..as for Energon and Cybertron *GAGS* that has to go to be-IMHO-one of the worst show of mix 2-D and 3-D ever!....i dont think i got over the fact that they downgraded Ironhide into a rookie...and well it just wasnt for me..it taste bad..almost like eating onions on a burger yuckkk.....*bleh*

G1 (all seasons)

I have never liked the Beast Wars or the past cartoons of the TF.
